Note: This will only fit the new BT50 model. It wont suit the BT50 that was on the Ranger platform. This is due to the extra reflectors Mazda put into the tailgate which take up to much space to make storage practical.

The Mazda BT50 tailgate has a capacity for a large amount of storage. Despite all the space available in modern utes, there isn't often any great location for small kit that you don't want just floating around your tub such as 4WD Recovery Equipment & first aid gear.

Fully lockable, it comes with gas struts to keep the lid steady when open and a carpeted interior. Once installed, this tailgate is easily as strong as the factory tailgate. The internal cavity is 75 mm deep, 1200 mm long and 413 mm wide at its biggest. There is also an internal box as shown in the photo that is required for the handle mechanism and a circular cutout for those models with a camera in the Ford badge.

Add Optional Tailgate Lid Protector Sheet - This sheet is made from highly durable polycarbonate chopping board material and comes pre-applied to the lid of your tailgate. Selecting this option is highly recommended if you regularly use your tailgate to drag heavy items in and out of the tub, if you like to sit on the tailgate or if you use it as a preparation area when camping. The protector sheet is replaceable like a screen protector for your phone, so can be renewed after heavy use to have your tailgate looking as good as new! Only adds an extra 2mm to your kit.

** Important note - This will only fit the 2021 - onwards body shape BT50. It will NOT suit the earlier models that shared similarities with the Ford Ranger. This is due to the extra reflectors that Mazda put into the tailgate which take up too much space to make storage practical. **

This mod requires access to an angle grinder, metal file, drill, basic hand tools and a little DIY knowledge. Some of the original tailgate must be removed in order to fit this storage compartment.
