Fitting Guide
Sikaflex onto existing plastic cowling
Supplied: 1 x laser cut 1.5mm thick stainless steel grille
Needed: one small tube marine grade sikaflex & prepsol
Open bonnet & cover engine bay with a drop sheet (as it is easy to drop nuts into engine bay when removing and refitting). Remove the existing plastic cowling from the bonnet. There are 7 nuts holding cowling to the bonnet - note one is behind bonnet insulation. Carefully cut circle in insulation to remove nut. Clean both surfaces of the new grille and existing cowling with a wax and grease removal (prepsol). Test fit the grille before you apply adherent to make sure you have it the correct way. Apply a marine grade sikaflex to the rear of the new grille in one continuous bead around the edge 5-8mm wide. Place the new grille to the existing bonnet cowling. Using clamps (spring or g clamps) every 200mm making sure alignment is good, remove any excess sikaflex. Leave for a minimum of 24 hours to cure then refit cowling to bonnet. We recommend you apply lock tight to all bolts when fitting.
